Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another-
showing us truth,
exposing our rebellion,
correcting our mistakes,
training us to live God's way. Through the Word we are
put together and
shaped up for the tasks God has for us. -2 Timothy 3:16-17 MSG (emphasis mine)
First off, the Message Bible is SO refreshing to me. My very first exposure to it was John 1: 14 ...which I understand is widely-used in Christian circles, but was my legit first exposure.
New King James Version:
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us,
and we beheld His glory,
the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,
full of grace and truth.
Message Version:
The Word became flesh and blood,
and moved into the neighborhood.
We saw the glory with our own eyes,
the one-of-a-kind glory,
like Father, like Son,
Generous inside and out,
true from start to finish.
The Word became flesh and blood and
MOVED INTO THE NEIGHBORHOOD.
Yeah, that's Jesus. He comes to us.
Annie writes today about the importance of being in the Scriptures for ourselves. Being intentional about reading the Bible.
She even shares one way of being more intentional with the devotional app: She Reads Truth.
Be Brave:
Check out SheReadsTruth.com (or HeReadsTruth.com).
They offer lots of plans and resources to help you
learn to read the Bible on a regular basis.
If you follow Annie on her podcast, That Sounds Fun, you'll see that she has spoken with Amanda Bible Williams (Yes, that's her REAL name!!) and Raechel Myers many times (Leaders of SRT). Annie is a huge advocate for SRT and the SRT community. And I get that. Take a moment and click on these links...they don't disappoint. Look how beautiful and see if you don't just want to tattoo this proclamation all over you!!
(You can also simply link on SRT, home ^^^ and then play around on the site.)
A agree with Annie that this is a beautiful ministry. I have done a few devotionals and can share what little I know.
1. most devotionals come with a price tag
2. every devotional is completely gorgeous
3. these are serious devotionals...you will be dedicating real time and effort.
If you are interested in spending more time in the Bible and need additional suggestions, here are two others which I also enjoy:
First Five -which aims to have you in your Word for the first five minutes of the day (short and sweet), this one is free
the Bible App -this one offers you lots of devotions which you can chose from as well as the ability to chose by topic, author, theme, etc., this one is also free
Do you have another devotion? One worth sharing? One which encourages you to continue to return, continue to Read Truth?
