Connected in Hope Apparel (review)

Here is a picture of a woman I have never met:

Her name is Alemnesh.
Alemnesh lives in Ethiopia and is the actual woman who made this very scarf I am wearing.
Remember this scarf?

Turns out, there is a great story behind it.

Alemnesh works with a fabulous nonprofit with a mission to empower women and families in Ethiopia: Connected in Hope.

When I was doing vendor shows, I noticed two women with the most beautiful booth in the church basement. Naturally, I wanted to check it out.
As a rule of thumb, I hardly buy anything from vendor shows when I am there to sell product. (Except for those rice warmers I spoke about in my post, A Very Homemade Christmas.)
At the end of the day, I hope to walk away having had made a profit and not having had spent it all on random things.
That day was different.

One of the most impressive things about Connected in Hope is that one of the women who was manning the booth actually knows Alemnesh! She actually works with and knows most of the Ethiopian woman and had lived in Ethiopia. She continues to return there to further educate and assist these amazing women!
The other truly impressive component was the envelope she had offered me with the scarf.
For anyone who is interested, once you make a Connected in Hope purchase, you can actually write the artisan and thank her.
The envelopes are pre-addressed for the American headquarters and then hand delivered by women like those I met at the show!

There is no doubt, I think this nonprofit is amazing!!
