Melissa Helser sang her heart out and I got to hear it.
It was Worship Nights in Harrisburg and I was a volunteer who stood on the outside of the back door of the auditorium in which she, Johnathan Helser, Hunter Thomas, and Paul and Hannah McClure were inside, rehearsing.
I volunteered; this meant:
Let me compose myself.
*Side bar. Bethel is not about the artists and great talent. It is completely about the heart...it just so happens, there is a LOT of heart there and I am excited about the artists who express it.*
The event was soon to begin, so Jerry-from-Bethel-church leads all of us volunteers in our matching Bethel volunteer tee-shirts into the center of the room and asks us to hold hands and pray.
This is not a concert, he says.
This is a worship event. We are here, the artists are here, and everyone waiting in line is here to see God glorified.
It is glorious.
The worship was fantastic. Simply put, imagine a large room filled with people who love God and are singing, dancing, waving, praying, crying, laughing, playing instruments, prophesying, cheering, and tapping feet-and they are all doing it for the glory of God.
I did all of the above...well, most of it...and it was incredible!
I never wanted it to end.
Saturday
Dinner tonight included some friends over for a visit. This is the best form of dinner, as it is one of the only guarantees that I will have something prepared.
We sat down to eat, and the three-year-old little boy-guest began to sing to a song playing in the background.
I'm non longer a slave to fear, I am a child of God.
*My heart*
In awe, I look up from my food and watch as he so happily sings the same words over and over.
His father stands up to wipe his face and all I can think of is this:
good father. good parenting. yay God!
Wednesday
All the way home, I listen to Beautiful Surrender, the new cd from Johnathan and Mesissa Helser. I listen and I sing along. Each song is my favorite- it is THAT GOOD.

Some Hellos:
Hello Worship Nights which is in Michigan tonight.
Hello Melissa and Johnathan- I was honored to be in the presence of the Lord with you both.
Hello Hunter Thomas who came back out for the last song. I had missed you when you played because I was volunteering and checking in all the VIPs. Thank you for coming back out. I felt like that was a special gift for me.
Hello beautiful weather. Lots of sun. Lots of rain.
Hello Beautiful Surrender, which I have not stopped listening to since Wednesday.
Hello Aly who looks like Amanda Cook and is a nanny for the McClures. Your ability to not "lose yourself" in the celebrity of Bethel is impressive. I enjoyed getting to talk with you and hope I get to see you again.
Hello finally having someone over for dinner!
Hello finally getting out to run/walk.
Hello sleepover nights with the McFives- I adore them all.
And hello nephew who calls the beast in Beauty and the Beast "Beef", and my oldest who, at six, made a Happy Birthday card and wrote:
*Be still my heart.*
I hope your week was amazing! -
